Birria Ramen- Super Food Battle of Azusa!

- All right, Lydia

- All right.

- We are here again.

- We're back Azua.

- Yes. Super Food Battle Azusa, and today we have...

- Birria Ramen.

- So excited about this. So we picked two locations. One is a very well known location here in Azusa, called Taco Tapatio, right, it's off of Foothill and Pasadena here in the city of Asuza. And then the oth

er one, we went a little unconventional.

- It's called Birrieria Estrada. It is a truck. It is a Birrieria truck. And so we did their location off of Arrow Highway and Lark Ellen.

- Taco Tapatio, that's what we're doing first, right? So it came with a little baggy of onion and cilantro, came with utensils, cut up quartered, lime, and a red salsa. And the Birria. Look how big this container is.

- Oh my gosh.

- When you open it. When you open it.

- You can smell the birria. That's the smell that hits you first.

- It's very birria forward. And when we first opened this beauty up it was just broth and you could see immediately...

- Full to almost to the top.

- ...full to the top. You could just see all of the birria chunks and the broth and all the things. So, okay. Mouth watering.

- Your mouth is watering.

- Okay. Let's try it. Let's try it.

- Well, I'm gonna put some of this, well, okay.

- You do that.

- I'm gonna taste the broth first alone.

- Okay. Taste that. I'm just gonna dig it because I be hungry.

- That broth is good alone.

- It's very yummy.

- It to me, so both of them gave us salt. It's got a little bit of tang to it, almost like a little vinegary tang.

- Yeah. I was about to say that I was gonna add some lemon. I'm like, I don't know if it needs a lemon. On the initial, the birria is like, so, just, it falls apart.

- Yeah. It fell apart when we served it.

- But the noodles are over done.

- Oh yeah.

- We're gonna go big, because if they gave us all of this stuff, it's for a reason, right.

- So this is just their red chili, their red salsa. What they would give you I'm assuming for tacos, burritos, whatever you get there. Did that do it, did that help?

- Yes. Oh yeah. With the lime and the Chile.

- Oh, it's so good.

- It's so good. Taco Tapatio here we go. That's why you put all that stuff in the bag, right.

- I can almost overlook the noodles. Almost.

- Lime, the onions and that red sauce.

- Yes.

- If I liked onions, I guarantee you, it would only add to this. It would be good. Oh, you know, it's good, when Stephanie starts doing the happy food dance.

- Estrada Birrieria I've had them before, Lydia, you have not, right?

- I have never had birria ramen. I've only just recently had birria tacos. I mean, but I love them already. So when she said ramen, I'm in. It was packed to the brim. The first thing you saw was ramen. And you don't see any broth when you first openit.

- But I wonder now if they do that on purpose so that the noodles don't continue to cook. Because if the broth is, and all of the broth is on the bottom of the Estrada one, this one was filled to the brim with broth. And if it's boiling, which it should be when they're serving it to you, it's gonna continue to do the noodles. So by the time we got home we got back to the office to do this. We have radishes and halves of lime.

- Quarters

- Quarters. And then we have a little red sauce and this yellow sauce. We don't know what this is.

- Can I open it?

- Yeah. Super excited. As you can see.

- We're gonna see.

- Habanero?

- Oh it is.

- I think I saw that on the website. It's a habanero salsa. So if you like spicy. All right. So now we have Birreria Estrada.

- I just eat birria, put it in front of me.

- She dives right in. I'm gonna taste the broth again. So this one looks more like the consummate, that one looked more like broth. So let's taste this.

- There's not much broth in the container at all.

- Not much.

- Not much at all. I'm already I'm adding the toppings. 'Cause we need see about this. The red sauces. Yeah. I wanna say I like the red sauce from Taco Tapatio a little bit more. 'Cause it adds more flavor rather than just being like spice in your face. Like, and now your tongue is on fire.

- I agree. Do you like really spicy? I do. I can do really spicy. I don't like heat just for the sake of heat. I want flavor with it.

- Well that's yeah. As long I can do heat if there's flavor if it's just so that like my nose runs and like I need a glass of milk, like who needs to do that?

- It's a lighter flavor, but I like it better than the red.

- Me too. Like you said, it's a slower heat. I wish that's Taco Tapatio's noodles weren't overcooked. 'Cause I would pick them. Maybe if we're gonna do to-go we asked for the ramen noodles to be separate. But if you're gonna take it to-go I would ask for the ramen noodles separate and it would be the best the birria ramen in Azusa. But that's just on me.

- I'm just gonna keep eating while she talks.

- All right guys. See you at the next Super Food Battle of Azusa. Can't wait, can't wait for the next one.

- And again, let us know your opinion. Vote below. We wanna hear what you think of these two or if there's somewhere else we need to try. All right, bye.
